Aikido – Way of Harmony

The unique challenge with aikido, is to see clearly and move freely while evading, leading and throwing three or four (or more) attackers at the same time.

The Three Perspectives

At Two Hands Clapping, aikido is the second of our four disciplines. Similar to most traditional aikido instruction, you will be introduced to the art of aikido from three perspectives:

  • Unarmed Aikido – Instruction in basic throws and falls, in response to an unarmed attack.
  • Aikido Weapons – Training in the wooden sword and short staff, the two weapons arts that are considered by many to be two of the pillars of aikido.
  • Advanced Aikido – Instruction in advanced throws, armed attackers and multiple attacker scenarios.

The unarmed techniques and aikido weapons classes can be taken by all members, in any order. For advanced aikido classes, you must have obtained the aikido rank of Sankyu (been studying a bit over a year).
